Analytics

We use Google Analytics 4 (GA4) to understand how the site is found and used. GA4 may receive information such as pages viewed, approximate location derived from an IP address, device and browser details, referring pages, and the time and manner of interactions with the site. We use this information in aggregate to improve our articles, navigation, and site performance.

Google Analytics loads on pages across Geography Atlas. For visitors in the United Kingdom, European Economic Area, Switzerland, and other regions configured in our analytics settings, analytics storage is denied by default. Advertising storage, advertising user data, and ad personalization are also denied by default in those regions. In this state, Google may receive limited, cookieless measurement signals.

For visitors elsewhere, Google Analytics may use cookies or similar browser storage. Geography Atlas does not use GA4 to show personalized advertising.

Who processes analytics data

Google processes analytics information on our behalf and may process it on servers outside your country. Google describes its practices in Google’s Privacy Policy and explains how it uses information from sites and apps that use its services.

Your choices

You can limit analytics collection by blocking cookies or scripts in your browser, clearing stored site data, or using the Google Analytics Opt-out Browser Add-on. Browser privacy controls and content blockers may also prevent analytics requests.

Server records and external links

Like most websites, our hosting infrastructure may automatically keep technical request logs for security, reliability, and troubleshooting. These can include an IP address, request time, requested page, browser information, and response status.

Our articles may link to other websites. Their privacy practices are controlled by their respective operators, and this policy does not cover those sites.
